A good water hardness is necessary for a stable and healthy pond. With a general hardness of minimum 6° GH, oxygen plants and micro-organisms can develop well. A good GH-value prevents acidification of the pond. Especially rainwater lowers the GH-value and increases the chance for acidification. Regular control of the water hardness is recommended.
